Customer Reviews
It's nice having a mid-size heli...as opposed to those micro-sized ones. It's 'slightly larger size' just feels more 'professional' as opposed to the 'toy' feel of most others. But it's pretty stable so it's easy enough, and forgiving enough, to fly inside a small living room. It's handling is 'proportionally' responsive so it doesn't doesn't over-steer. It even flies a bit slow if you don't 'over-push' the right control lever. The only drawback, is that it takes 70 minutes to charge (according to the manual), and as I can verify that it only gives 5 minutes of flight time. Then, because the batteries get quite warm after the five minutes of flight, you have to wait awhile before recharging, or else, as explained in other model's instruction booklets, you can likeley damage the batteries if you charge them while they're still warm. If it weren't for the short duration with long charge time I'd give it 5 stars for its 'appropriate' and 'metered' flight responsiveness. (I've only flown it a couple of days so I can't comments on it's crash worthiness, but I've crashed it a few times, and so far no damage.) It's a bit over-priced also. If it had a longer lasting battery charge for flight duration, it would certainly be worth the $50+ dollars. [Follow-up: I was very pleasantly surprised that such a large heli could fly slow and methodically and with 'proportional responsiveness' around my samll living room...as mentioned above. Then I found the reason for that. The tail rotor had come off during a prior crash) or was never put on, and that caused the lumbering (yet pleasant) control of this bird. Yet suprising, it flew quite well even without the tail rotor. I've lost tail rotors on mini-helicopters, and they flew irradically. This one flew like a champ. When I put on the spare rotor included in the package, the heli became 'too quick' for easy manueverability. So, I compromised, and put on a smaller tail rotor from a broken heli, and now I have the best of both worlds: increased responsiveness with controlled manueverability. And, after flight-testing at least 7 heli's, this is the first one that I can stabilze at a hovering position without it constantly going up and down.]
This heli is one of the most stable mid-size heli out there. Once the trim knob is adjusted, you can take both fingers off the radio control and this heli will hover in a small area, absolutely stable and no spinning. The antenna radio (vs. infrared) is a plus in terms of range and outdoor play. For about $45-50 range, it's the best value for the money.
