Customer Reviews
There are many folks who review this model or the newer one with too high of an expectation for novice use.
The truth is, this IS a great toy! But it shoudl not be your first RC heli if you are not used to such items. You are working with an actual force of nature that is fluid (AIR) and no matter how stable something is, the air will alway change performance dynamically.
This heli is powerful (compared to a mini) and is great fun now that I am experienced. I spent many days/weeks practicing with my mini landing it from table to table and all sorts of things so that I am aware of wind dynamics with the larger one.
When starting out, this heli demands caution but an attitude to move forward. If you are too timid, you will overreact, or never just drive the thing. a moving boat can be steered, but a still boat (hovering heli) is more subject to a cross wind crashing it. -meaning, when you are actually flying it, it has more strength to stay on its corse.
Using a smaller heli, gives you more safety zone and less disapointment. Light and hardly breaks on carpet.
If you want a great toy for indoors and to make you a hero at gift time, buy them the smaller Sima brand heli (Syma 3 Channel S107 Mini Indoor ). This one is easy! and trains you for the larger ones! buy extra blades though...
As an experienced R/C Heli pilot I do not recommend buying an Eagle HD 9051. This Heli has multiple problems: Transmitter Joy Sticks are poor quality making control difficult; The Heli Fwd / Aft balance is to the rear making Fwd flight slow -it needs weight added to the nose- it flys faster in reverse; Heli hover is erratic due to the poor transmitter joy sticks and motor control of the rotors.
If transitioning up from micro heli's the Eagle 9051 is a bad choice, it's a fun killer. Try a Syma S031G(bigger) or the S032G (smaller) At this price point they are the best deal and quality. Now having said that, don't expect a whole lot from $50 Heli's. You get what you pay for! Stick with Syma S107G until your ready to spend $200. In that price range try a Walkera V100D08 - it's a real Heli with a very good transmitter. The D08 is a Palm size indoor Heli and a ton of fun. Enjoy flying.
